Laine gets flexible with Covid19

Like many in the world the Year 2020 threw up some challenges big and small.  In the case of former Hospitality worker Laine, she was instantaneously out of work when the business closed shortly after Covid19 hit. Needing to keep in the workforce Laine seized upon an opportunity has worked out well.

Growing up in Port Macquarie Laine came to Canberra with the family and attended Merici College where she completed her Year 12 certificate in 2014.  Following College, Laine entered the Hospitality sector and specialised in the food and beverage area of local businesses including Vibe Hotel and Braddon Merch.

When Covid19 impacted the hospitality business last year Laine had to make some decisions about her future and to see what other opportunities existed. Fortunate for her there was a Painting Apprenticeship opportunity working for the family business.  This meant a full change of focus for Laine who was now entering the Building and Construction sector as a future career.

Laine took up the challenge and commenced the Apprenticeship and hasn’t looked back.  “Whilst I enjoyed the hustle of hospitality, I’m appreciating the calmer work environment as an apprentice painter and I’m not missing the split shift’s!” Laine said.

“Since making her career change Laine has fitted into to the business really well. She pays attention to details and has pride in the job she’s doing. This, in return is good for building the reputation of our business” said Heath, Laines Employer.

As for interests out of work Laine enjoys movies, reading a good novel and undertaking some amateur acting when the opportunities arise.

Keep up the good work Laine!
